August 2010 update:

A long-time supporter of our work, who wishes to remain anonymous, has generously offered to match dollar for dollar all 2010 donations made by first-time donors to the Fund up to $7,500! The donations must be made by December 1 of this year to qualify. Donations may be made here on our website, or the old fashioned way by check! Our mailing address is at the bottom of each page on the website. Even a small donation makes a difference, and will be doubled!

And if you have any friends or relatives that would be interested in the many worthwhile projects we support every year, and who have never made a donation before, please ask them to consider doing so this year. It could mean up to $15,000 in extra grant money for grassroots ecosystem defense in the United States and Canada!

Thanks for all your support!

The Fund for Wild Nature is not a foundation. Each year, the Fund's volunteer Board of Directors raises money to distribute to grassroots groups that act to protect wild nature. Why not give directly to those groups? We hope you do. But if you've looked around, there are thousands of worthy causes and hundreds of thousands of organizations; it can get confusing, fast. We can help.

You want to support environmental action. You want your donation to go far, and you want it to make a difference. That's what we do. We volunteer our time and expertise so you can trust that your funds are reaching the front lines of environmental protection efforts. We keep our overhead to a bare minimum with one part-time staff member. Our grants do not fund salaries, and we rarely fund organizations with budgets over $250,000. We're the venture capitalists of the grassroots environmental protection world. We take risks and expect results.

The Fund for Wild Nature's board is made up of people who have their ears to the ground. We know about the newest groups protecting specific places or advocating new policies. We are experienced in discerning good proposals from bad and, most importantly, we leverage your funds. When you give, we combine your donation with others and often give a small group its first grant. Some good examples are: Center for Biological Diversity, The Rainforest Action Network and The Ruckus Society.

Cut through the junk mail and unnecessary paraphernalia so many use to entice you to join the latest cause. Send your donations to the Fund for Wild Nature and we'll put your money to work. You won't get anything but a thank you note, an annual appeal and our annual report. We won't give your name to anyone, including the groups we support.

The Fund for Wild Nature is supported entirely by donations from individuals like you. We have no endowment - our ability to make grants depends upon the continuing generosity of our contributors.

We invite you to join our many donors whose contributions are making a tremendous difference for wild nature. The Fund for Wild Nature is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible.

Gifts

Many employers will match charitable donations by their employees, allowing you to do double your gift to the Fund for Wild Nature. If your workplace has a matching gift program, send the form provided by your employer along with your gift to the Fund. If your company does not have a matching program, ask about establishing one. The last wild places are counting on you.

In-Kind Donations

Many of the Fund's grantees operate on a shoestring, and The Fund for Wild Nature welcomes the donation of a wide range of goods and services that we will re-grant to these groups. Needed items include computers, office equipment and supplies, and professional services. We can match your gift with a group in need. PLEASE call the Fund office before sending material items: (360) 636-6030.
